Graphic designer Mariana Bernd was born in São Paulo in 1971. She graduated from the Universidade Mackenzie [Mackenzie University] and completed her master's degree at the Faculdade de Arquitetura e Urbanismo [College of Architecture and City Planning] at the University of São Paulo (FAU-USP). In 2013, she created and implemented the course of introduction to graphic design at the Instituto Acaia [Acaia Institute] for high-school students, where she is still teaching.
Talk: The Amazonian Painting-Mural
The vernacular representation of the Amazonian landscape associated with visual communication and the decoration of retail stores in the northern region of Brazil is the topic to be addressed by Mariana Bernd. In the paintings-murals, representations of the forest are mixed with universal icons of contemporary cities – and hence provoke thoughts on the particularities of Brazilian visual universe.
